What am I currently into?

I’m constantly keeping myself busy with books, music, TV shows, and games. There have been many occasions where I’ve found great new finds through similarly styled newsletters, blogs, and videos, that others produce. Since I get a lot out of those lists, I’d like to contribute my own just in case anything interests you. I will send out new lists as I find new things.

Here’s what I’m currently into:

TV show: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

There will never be a time where I’m not into this show. It’s my favorite, bar none. I first watched it only a few years ago (I grew up a TNG girl!) and my only regret is that I didn’t discover it sooner!

Game: Forza Horizon 5

I do enjoy motorsports… both virtual and IRL. Forza Horizon 5 is gorgeous and features so many breathtaking cars (my “garage” has a 1975 Bronco and a 2013 McLaren P1, and everything in between!). The rally stages are especially entertaining, though perhaps that’s my bias showing as I have a soft spot for all things rallying!

Book: Apple: The First 50 Years

This book by journalist David Pogue is an absolute unit. At 608 pages, it’s as in-depth as Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs and just as fascinating. History buffs will love it. Tech fans will love it. Apple fanatics may learn something new… and will probably love it, too!

Search engine: Kagi

Kagi’s founder wanted to return the daily act of searching on the Web to something that wasn’t bogged down by SEO jockeying and LLM hallucinations. There is a free tier of Kagi available for those who want to try a search engine that has a similar UI to Google, but without the summaries that take up most of your home page. Kagi searches are private and not saved on any servers. I’m currently trying out the $5 “starter” tier, which grants me 300 searches instead of the 100 that’s on the free tier. But there are tiers with unlimited searches starting at $10 a month.

Website: Weather Channel’s RetroCast Now

The smooth jazz and pastel themes of 1990s-era Weather Channel come back to life for those of us who were fortunate enough to have lived – and gotten our weekend forecasts – in that decade. RetroCast Now can be accessed on the Weather Channel’s official site. The channel even maintains an official Spotify playlist in case you want to just listen to the timeless soundtrack.
