Howdy! My name is Richelle. Welcome to the Garden!

I’m hoping this project will serve as the one stop shop for my myriad interests and endeavors. I’m always looking for ways to simplify and get organized!

A little about me: I’m 38 years old and I live with my husband and our spoiled rotten pup in Colorado. I started my professional career as a broadcast journalist, then “retired” after 12 years to pivot to a career in health information technology.

My hobbies are diverse and numerous. I’m a lifelong avid reader: I especially enjoy historical fiction, philosophy, and British literature. I’m also a Trekkie, specifically the Niner variety (in fact, my dog is named after Major Kira Nerys).

A love of technology was kindled in me when I installed my first Linux distribution (Ubuntu) onto an ailing Acer laptop back in 2020. Since then I’ve tinkered with several Arch distributions (Endeavour and Omarchy), explored the Raspberry Pi, and built my own gaming PC. I’m also an unashamed Apple fan! Stay tuned for my upcoming review on the MacBook Neo!

I mostly game on my PC but I’ve also put some mileage on my trusty Steam Deck. I’m currently obsessed with Forza Horizon Five and Arc Raiders.

Meditation is a crucial part of my life, and I’m currently training to become a mindfulness meditation teacher. I hope to reach people who want to give it a try but don’t know where to start or don’t know how they can integrate mindfulness into their daily routine.

I do enjoy watching sports. My favorite sport is soccer, and I’ve been “Sunderland ‘Til I Die” since 2008. I’m also a partial owner of Carrick Rangers and collector of unique soccer scarves. Lately I’ve been really into Formula One, though I haven’t picked a team yet.

I’m a full-time student once again! I’m working toward a double bachelors degree in Health Information Management and Computer Information Systems. If I complete any interesting assignments along the way, I’ll be sure to post here!
